Underwater photography is the reason LIGHTMAGIC exists.
Below the surface, light behaves differently, colours disappear with depth and even familiar animals can look completely different through a camera. Sometimes the photograph is planned. More often, the ocean has other ideas.
My photography ranges from tiny subjects hidden in the reef to larger encounters out in the blue. I have a particular weakness for macro photography and nudibranchs, but anything interesting enough to make me stop, look twice and reach for the camera is fair game.
The photographs on LIGHTMAGIC were made during real dives in real conditions. They are not a catalogue of perfect situations. They are records of encounters: sometimes calm, sometimes fleeting and sometimes over before there was time for a second frame.
